About
Diploma Schools of Nursing
Diploma
programs in nursing are single purpose educational institutions
which prepare graduates to practice as professional nurse generalists
in a variety of healthcare settings. This is accomplished by providing
a learning environment which includes early involvement of students
with clients utilizing a wide variety of clinical experiences. Diploma
programs further recognize a sound foundation in the biological,
physical, and behavioral sciences, as essential to the mastery of
the principles of the nursing process. Learning is enhanced by the
close student-teacher relationship which nurtures individual effort,
independent learning, and intellectual curiosity. Such relationships
provide opportunities for intellectual challenges, role clarification,
and integration of theories and practice as a foundation for the
development of a professional identity.
